At the heart of its suitability for boiler applications is a specialized carbon-molybdenum alloy composition. With 0.45-0.65% molybdenum, the tube delivers enhanced creep resistance, enabling it to withstand prolonged exposure to temperatures up to 538°C (1000°F) without permanent deformation—a key requirement for boiler tubes subjected to constant heat from combustion gases. The alloy also provides robust tensile strength (minimum 415 MPa/60,000 psi) and impact resistance, allowing it to handle rapid pressure fluctuations during boiler start-ups, shutdowns, or load changes. Unlike standard carbon steel, the molybdenum addition forms a protective oxide layer, shielding the tube from corrosive flue gases, steam impurities, and oxidation—extending its service life in the chemically aggressive environment of boiler systems.​
