Each standard of steel pipe has its own performance characteristics.

​​一、Core features of each standard steel pipe​

​​1. ASTM standard (American standard)​​

​​A36(structural steel)

. ​​Characteristics​​:low cost、easy to weld、suitable for general buildings and structural parts.

. ​​Characteristics​​:Designed for high temperature and high pressure (such as boiler superheater), low carbon content, temperature must be controlled during welding to avoid cracks.

. Characteristics​​:economical,suitable for low pressure flow(such us water pipes),The compressive strength is weak and not suitable for high temperature and high pressure.

​​GB/T 8163(Fow fluid seamless pipes)​​

 

. ​​Characteristics​​:The inner surface is smooth and corrosion-resistant, suitable for petroleum and chemical fluid transportation, but the strength is lower than that of High-Pressure Boiler Tubes.

. ​​Comparison​​:More emphasis on inner surface quality than A106, suitable for long-term conveying of media.

 

​​GB 5310(High pressure boiler pipes)​​

 

. ​​Characteristics​:include Cr、Mo alloy,High temperature oxidation resistance, high compressive strength, but the cost is significantly higher than ordinary boiler tubes.

​​3. JIS standard(Japan)​​

 

​​STKM 11A(structural seamless tubes)​​

 

.Characteristics​​:Good cold processing performance, suitable for scenes that require forming, such as automotive parts.

. Notice​​:The strength is slightly lower than ASTM A36, but the weldability is better.

.​​SB265(Heat exchange tubes)​​

.characteristics​​:High cleanliness, stress corrosion resistance, suitable for chemical heat exchangers, but requires high processing accruacy

​​4. ISO standard(international)​​

· ​​ISO 3183(oil and gas pipeline)​​

. ​​Characteristics​​:high strength(X42-X80 classification),resistant to hydrogen sulfide corrosion, suitable for long-distance high-pressure oil and gas transportation.

. ​​Tip points:Commonly used in submarine pipelines or extreme environments, requiring strict testing standard.

. Chloride ion environment (such as seawater): stainless steel or high chromium steel pipes are preferred.

. Sour oil and gas: X60/X70 grade steel pipes resistant to H₂S corrosion must be used (ISO 3183).
